Marcon 45 in 2010

I was recently invited (by the same people that put on Context 22 that I was just at last weekend) to be an author guest at Marcon 45.  The fantasy/science fiction/horror convention will be held on Memorial Day weekend in 2010 (May 28 – 30th).  The theme of Marcon 45 will be ‘A Year of Horror’.

More details will follow as the event gets closer!

Context 22 – A Weekend in Review

Context 22 was a great time.  I got to sit on one panel (the other was cancelled) and got to meet; Tim Deal from Shroud Publishing, Michael Knost, Gord Rollo, Scott Sandridge, Michael D’Ambrosio, Holly Sullivan McClure and Jason Sanford.  I also got to reconnect with Jason Sizemore of Apex Book Company and Maurice Broaddus.  Overall, it was a great time being able to hang out and party with a bunch of other people as well.

Besides partying and hanging out with all the above, I also got to ‘talk shop’ with Gord Rollo and Michael Knost on Saturday.  Gord and I spoke about our current and future projects.  Michael shared a wealth of knowledge of the business on writing and ‘how to’ become a successuful writer, to which I am eternally greatful.  Thanks, Michael.

Context 22 is in sight…

Tomorrow, Friday, August 28th, I will be heading to Columbus, Ohio to be an author guest/panelist at Context 22.  This is a speculative fiction and literature convention and will run from 7:00pm on Friday (8/28) through 2:00pm on Sunday (8/30). Participating Guests, include: Gary Braunbeck, Maurice Broaddus, Jason Sizemore, Timothy Deal, Michael Knost, Gord Rollo and many many more.  You can view a full list of all the attendees by visiting the Context site.

During the convention I will be on the following panels:

Trusting Your Reader on Friday at 9:00pm

Humor To Horror on Saturday at 10:00am

As I did while in Nashville, TN for Hypericon 5, I will be making daily updates to this site regarding the day’s events.  You can also follow me throughout the day and night (parties) on my Facebook page.

If you have a copy of Night School or a magazine one of my short stories appeared in, free free to bring it and I’ll sign it for you.  This should be a fun event and I hope to see some of you there!

Appearances Schedule

Below are a few updates to my Appearances for the next few months.

There are convention rates still available, but call soon to take advantage of them.

During the convention I will be on the following panels:

Trusting Your Reader on Friday at 9:00pm

Humor To Horror on Saturday at 10:00am

There might be copies of the book available for purchase at the event, but I can’t guarantee it.  So, if you want a book or magazine signed I would suggest bringing your own copy.  I should be easy enough to spot (if you don’t already know what I look like from a photo on here or Facebook) since I’ll be wearing a Night School T-Shirt at least one of the days (probably on Saturday).

Hope to see some of you there to chat and party with after the events are over both days!

The next scheduled appearance will be at Homecoming weekend at Heidelberg College (Tiffin, OH) in the Bookstore located in the Campus Center on Friday, October 23rd from Noon – 1:30.  There should be a small supply of books on hand that you can purchase, although, I would suggest ordering your own copy of the book and/or magazines soon so you can come by, chat and have me sign it for you.

Hope to see you soon!

Context 22

Context 22 has been listed under Appearances for some time.  Though, it was just confirmed today that I will indeed be a Participating Author at the convention.  The main page of their website and bookstore will be updated shortly with my name and book.

I am really looking forward to this event.  Not only since I will be able to contribute on several panels, but because a few of the individuals I met at Hypericon 5 will be at this event, as well.  It will be nice to get together with them again so soon after meeting them last weekend.

As a side note, no, this is not one of the ‘major’ annoucements that will be coming shortly (just have to shore up a few last details).

Hypericon 5

I was originally scheduled to be a guest author at Hypericon 5 in Nashville, TN – June 5th – 7th 2009.  Though, because of cost restrictions, I was ‘bumped’ from the author guest list.  Although, I have decided to still attend the convention – as a fan.  This should be a fun event with some great authors to meet and talk to for the first time.  Specifically, I’m excited to meet one of my favorite horror authors, Brian Keene, who will be the Author Guest of Honor at the event.

Even though I won’t have a table at the event, I will still be more than happy to stop and chat or sign Night School or a magazine that one of my short story’s appeared in.  You’ll be able to spot me easy enough, as I will be wearing one of the Night School T-Shirts.  There might even be some sort of giveaway if I see someone wearing the shirt – more to come on this closer to the event.  Though, just to be certain you have the book and shirt in time, I suggest heading over to the Storefront now and picking them up.

Signing Rescheduled

FYI.  If you were planning to attend the book signing at the Borders in Solon, Ohio this coming Saturday – it HAS been rescheduled at the store’s request.

The new date will be Saturday, April 18th.  The time is still from 1:00 – 3:00.  The Appearances page has also been updated.

As always, you can buy the book at the signing or bring in a copy you already own.

Booksigning Results

It was still cold in Medina, Ohio, today, even with the sun shining bright.  But the chill in the air didn’t stop people from coming out to the Borders where I had a signing on Saturday (28th).

I sold some books, but more importantly met some great people that I enjoyed speaking with.  If you are one of the people that stopped by the table and spoke with me, I thank you!  In addition, if you didn’t buy the book at the time, feel free to browse the site; to read more About Me, look over the FAQs, read some interviews, read and listen to some excerpts of Night School and buy the book when/if you are ready.  (As a side note, Borders.com is currently out of the book, which is why if you search for me on the site, you won’t be able to find it.  I was just informed today that once their supplier receives additional copies, the book will reappear on their website.  In the meantime, you can always order the book from the various other online retailers that do have it in stock).

Thanks again and enjoy!

Remember the Signing!
