Horror and the Human Psyche

Today, I was going to post a new interview with me that took place for Blood Moon Rising Magazine #37.  Although, I noticed when the issue came out (online) my interview wasn’t there – so it’s on to Plan B, until I find out what’s going on.

Alot of people ask me why I write/enjoy horror.  I always tell them that as far as movies and books go, that is the genre I have always enjoyed the most.  In fact, when I am in a bookstore, the first (and most of the time the only) rack I go to is the horror section.  Most of the time the section is too small and only has books by the Mr. Big Name Author (though, I would have to disagree with what he writes today that is classifies as horror).  But, I digress.

People then always seen to ask me, “don’t you think horror movies and books have a negative effect on people and society?”  I reply, “no, no I don’t.”

And THIS is why.

Going Old School on Myself

OK, so I’m reverting back to my college days when I was studied history.  With this major, there were two (three) things that were necessary – reading/research & writing.  Since then, I think I have covered the reading and writing, but now feel the need to delve back into the world of research.

What kind you ask?  Let me explain (and why I need your help).

I’m curious where my book is selling the best (according to online sales rankings, it is Barnes & Noble, as of right now) – this is where you come in.

If you have bought the book, I would like to hear from you (plus you’ll have a chance to win the current Contest) with the following information.  To reply, you can leave a Comment under THIS post or email me.

1)  In which month did you order (i.e. pay for) the book?

2)  Where did you buy it from – an online bookstore (amazon, barnes & noble, borders, etc), brick & morter store or directly from the publisher?

3)  Would you be willing to leave a ‘book review’ on one of the above mentioned sites?

OK, I think that is about it.  I thank you in advance for your help.

Newspaper Interview

I am originally from a small town, a half hour north of Dayton, Ohio, named Covington.  When I moved away shortly after college, the town had a population of around 3,000 people.  The town was so small that we didn’t have a newspaper that was printed in the town itself.  The majority of folks in town read the Piqua Daily Call, which came out of the City of Piqua, the next town over from Covington.  As any newspaper, it covered local, national and international news.

Recently, I was interviewed by Jennifer Runyon from the paper.  The interview will appear in the Monday, February 23rd edition.

Since the majority of you won’t be able to read the interview, you can still see the majority of the questions I was asked in FAQs or in the other interviews I have done recently.

In addition to the interview, I was asked to submit a photo of myself holding Night School.  I figured I would go ahead and post the picture here, not only to give you a feel for the article but to finally let some of you see what I look like (besides the small picture in About Me).

In any event, below is the picture I sent in.  Disregard the nerdy smile and fluffy hair (I normally look a whole lot more cool…ok, well, maybe not).

Reviews (needed)

As I prepare for my first of several Appearances this year (beginning with a book signing this coming Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio), I wanted to ask each of you that has bought and read the book, to go to Amazon and write a book review for me.  If you haven’t purchased on Amazon in the past and are unable to post a review there, feel free to post it to any other store’s website.  As a thanks for doing a review, let me know when its done and I’ll send you some free bookmarks of Night School.

If you have yet to buy the book, visit the Storefront to do so.  If you still don’t know what the book is about or want to read an excerpt, click here.

Oh, I received the copies of Werewolf Magazine #9 on Friday and they turned out great.  You can purchase the magazine, which contains my short story, ‘Thirst’ by visiting the Storefront, as well.

Thanks!

Night School T-Shirts

I mentioned here about having t-shirts made for my novel, Night School.

Well, I am happy to announce that I have partnered with Tanya Gadsby, owner of Devious Designz, to bring this concept to life.

We have decided on the design idea (the shirt will come in both black and white) and now it’s currently being put together.

To give you an idea of what the shirt will look like, see below.

Front

Will feature the stack of books and knife from the front cover of the book in the top left-hand corner (looking down at yourself).

Back

Across the shoulder blades will be ‘Night School’ just as it looks on the front of the book, followed by my name, the synopsis and then this website address.

Once I know when the shirt is available for purchase (should only be a week or so) and the price, I will let you know.  In the meantime, head on over to the Devious Designz website and buy something unique and devious.
