The next (next) project cometh…

Tonight I completed my novella that will be part of the previously mentioned T.D.T Project.  Now, I will be going back to the completed ‘monster’ novel to edit it and get it ready to submit.  After that, it’ll be time to either write a novella for another future project or start the next novel.  I’m not sure which at this point.  Thoughts?  What subject matter would you all like to see me write next?

Until next time…

The last two weeks…

I’ve been extremely busy over the past two weeks.

During this period of time; the two-novella collection that I was writing with Adam P. Lewis was edited and submitted to a publisher for consideration, my ‘monster’ (no, I’m still not telling you what ‘kind’ of creature it is) novel was completed at 80k words, and finally, I’m currently about half-way through writing my novella for The T.D.T Project – I expect to finish the this by the end of next week.  Then I will be going back to the ‘monster’ novel to edit it and prepare it for submission.  After that; I will either be starting another novella (working with another author, again) or a yet-to-be-decided novel.  I’m not sure which.

Of course the above work doesn’t include the other various projects in the near future; my column with Hellnotes that’s beginning on Feb. 15th, starting to teach a class on writing horror at the University of Akron (Ohio) on Feb. 16th, pitching a short story collection to a publisher, trying to finalize a deal with a distributor on Cake Batter and the other projects and deals I’m continuingly discussing with a variety of folks.

So, until I announce the future release of my next book, short story or movie, how about heading over to Published Works and check out what’s already out (there are some links on the page where you can read a few shorts and interviews for free) and then head over to the Storefront and pick up a book or a magazine.

The next project cometh…

Those of you that follow me on Facebook (link to your right) already know that I recently completed writing the ‘monster’ novel.  It came in at 80k words, which should equate to around 300 pages in book form.  Now that that is out of the way, it’s time to move onto the next project…

The T.D.T Project

I mentioned here that I will soon begin another anthology (novella) project with two other authors.  This will be my second undertaking of such a thing and I suspect it will be just as great as the first.  Though I can’t provide you with the theme of the story, yet, I can give you the working details of the project itself.

What:  Until decided, it will be known as The T.D.T. Project.  This future book will be an anthology, containing three novellas (around 25k words each), each written by a different person with an overall common theme.

Who:  Tom Erb, Dean Harrison and myself.

When:  The self-imposed soft deadline for completion of the novellas is Early Spring.

I’m excited to be working with these up-and-comers and I think you’ll agree once it has been written and published you’ll be just as excited by the content as we will be writing it.

In Gord We Trust

I am constantly amazed by the number of people who still haven’t read Gord Rollo’s body of work.  My first encounter, as many people, was his Leisure release in 2008 of The Jigsaw Man.  I actually wrote a book review for Withersin Magazine back in April of this year on that very same book.  I was then able to meet and hang out with him for the first time at Context 22 earlier this year, as well.

Not only is his work bloody exciting and well written, but he’s a hell of a nice guy to boot.  Since Context we’ve become friends and when he told me he was knee-deep writing his next Leisure release, I not only became excited to eventually read something new by him, but also knew that more people need to start reading his previous work now to get excited with the next book that’s coming out soon.

You can check out Gord’s site here.  Believe me, you’ll have a bloody good time!

What’s been going down…

It’s been longer than normal for me to not post anything, so I figured it was high time for me to fill you in on what’s been occupying my time.  So without further ado and being vague where needed, here is what I have been working on.

–  Almost to the 50k mark in the ‘monster’ novel that I started re-working on about a month ago (have wrote about 30k words in that time).  The finished manuscript should be around 80k

–  Following up with Shadetree Films to get that Cake Batter trailer on here we’ve been promising you

–  Pitched the novella project (that’s been in the making for about six months) to a publisher.  They are going to take a look at the finished project once available

–  Pitched me writing a comic book to a graphic novel publisher

–  Pitched an anthology project, where I would be the editor, to a publisher

–  In preliminary talks with a film distributor in regard to Cake Batter

–  In preliminary talks with another film maker on possible film ideas

–  Got invited to take part in an anthology in early Fall 2010

–  Getting ready to start talks with two writers to do another novella project (where each one of us writes a novella based on a common theme)

–  In talks with Suspense Magazine to find out when my accepted novelette turned serialized story, ‘All in the Line of Duty’, will finally be released.

–  Having a meeting tomorrow at Noon with a certain institution to possibly do a certain something (have to be as vague with this one was possible for now)

I know there are one or two other things that are slipping my mind right now as well.  But, as you can see, I’ve been quite busy with writing and the business side of things.  Stay tuned folks…there is some excitement in store for 2010!!
