Carpe Noctem, Bloodee

‘Jacob’s Mind’ was once a serialized short story posted here on this website.  As you might have noticed, it is no longer under ‘Pages’ to your right.  This is because it has been published by Bloodee.  You can read the story (again or for the first time) on their website, by clicking here.

In addition, Yvan, from Bloodee, wrote up a nice little blurb about me.  You can read it, by clicking here.

As a side note, check out two new links under the appropriate section to your right (Jack Ketchum & Brian Keene).  If you haven’t heard of them…you’re missing out on some great writing in the horror genre.

First Chapter Project

I mentioned here about Night School being on the First Chapter Project.  Since it wasn’t the main topic of a post, I’m afraid that not all of you saw/read it.  In any event, if you’re interested in reading the 1st chapter of Night School you can do so, by clicking here.

You can read another excerpt in Freebies, as well.

If you haven’t bought the book yet and are interested in doing so after reading the aforementioned excerpts, visit the Storefront.  In the Storefront, you can find links to where you can buy the book, Werewolf Magazine #9, containing my short story, ‘Thirst’ and information how to order a Night School T-shirt – that is, if you really want to impress people with your great sense of style!

Jacob’s Mind & Gnomus

As a last note, we are getting closer to a winner for the current contest.  Click here to read about it.

The Good, The Bad & The Temptations

First, the bad.  Yesterday, I lost my ‘day job’ so I have to start looking for something to do inbetween my writing.  So, to quote Melvin from The Temptations on the song Ball of Confusion

And the band played on.

So, round and around we go.

Where the world’s headed, nobody knows.

Now, the good.

I mentioned here about North Coast Voice Magazine doing an article and review about Night School in their ‘Hot Off The Press’ column.   Today, the ‘hard copy’ of the issue is available all over NE Ohio and also can be read online, by clicking here.

Werewolf Magazine #9 – Now Available!

Werewolf Magazine #9, published by Sapphire Publications (Blood Moon Rising Magazine), which contains my short story, ‘Thirst’ is now available for purchase.  You can go straight to the order form on their site by clicking here.  The cost is only $5.00.  After you print the order form, make sure to indicate how many you want and the Issue #, which is #9.

And a BIG Thank You to Jaime Ortiz of Trippy Tease Productions, for the cool werewolf graphic, above.

As a reminder, if you would like Night School or Werewolf Mag #9, signed (if you are unable to make it to a book signing), click here to find out how to go about it.

Publishers – Book of the Week – Night School!

From my publisher:

Congratulations! We  have selected your book, Night School, to be our next Book of the Week. We base our decision for book of the week on a number of factors: sales, reviews, recommendations, and reader interest.  All of our books are considered each week when choosing the title. It is indeed an honor to have your book selected, and I am proud that you are one of our authors.

If you have been waiting to buy the book, now would be the time to do it – my publisher is taking 5-bones off the cover price.

So, if you want to see Night School as the Book of the Week or Buy it, click here and it will take you to my publisher’s site.

Book Signings

In addition to the book signing I will be doing at Visible Voice Books (Cleveland, Ohio) on Feb. 7th, there are now two other events scheduled.  See below.

Borders in Medina, Ohio – Feb. 28th from 1-3pm

Borders in Solon, Ohio – Mar. 28th from 1-3pm

Both of these stores will have plenty of copies on hand for you to buy or you can bring in a copy you already have for me to sign.  A side note:  the ‘reduced-priced’ issue of Werewolf Magazine #9 (mentioned here) that contains my short story, ‘Thirst’ will only be available at the signing on Feb. 7th.

You can find more information, including the store’s address by clicking on Appearances/News.

In addition, the first chapter of Night School is now on the First Chapter Project.  If you want to go directly to the excerpt, click here.

A Review & Other News

A review of Night School by M. Whitt, author of Planet Gemini, has been posted on Amazon.com.  You can also purchase the book if you haven’t done so already, via this link.

I am in the middle of doing an interview with Mark Fewell of CALLIOPE to be featured in his section called, ‘Scary Scrawlings.’  Along with the interview, there is a possibility of a short story of mine being published, as well.  I’ll keep you updated on when the issue will be out and how to go about getting it.

Also, a reminder that I will be reading a 10-12 minute excerpt from Night School on the Authors Read program on Blog Talk Radio on Jan. 19th at Noon (ET).  You can find out how to listen to the show by clicking the above link or checking out Appearances/News.  I’ll be posting a reminder of the show later this week with this information, as well.

In other news…

I have begun collaborating with a t-shirt maker to design and sell Night School shirts.

Started throwing around design ideas with JD Boren of JDB Knives to design and sell a hand crafted, limited edition knife depicting the essence Night School.  If you are a knife enthusiast and enjoy quality, hand crafted knives, I suggest checking out his site and ordering something.  Of course, once the design (which will be posted at a later date), price and availability of the Night School knife is good-to-go, I will let you know how to go about ordering it.

Withersin Interview & Update to Booksigning

I mentioned awhile back about Withersin Magazine doing an interview with me.  Well, it is finally posted to their website.  Click here to read it.

&

I mentioned here about my first booksigning of the year on Feb. 7th.  Of course, I will have on hand a number of copies of Night School that you can purchase and have me sign (along with free bookmarks, etc) or you can bring in your own copy for me to sign.  Along with having the book, Al Vermette, the publisher of the magazine (and a heck of a guy), will be providing me with a limited number (5) of copies of Werewolf Magazine #9 (comes out this month) containing my short story, ‘Thirst.’  The copies of the magazine will be $3.00 (2-bones off the cover price) so you can not only check out my short story, but enjoy all the other great stories contained within and learn more about the magazine, itself.  Hopefully, this will make you thirsty for more of what Sapphire Publications (Blood Moon Rising) has to offer.

If you aren’t able to make the book signing but still want a copy of Werewolf #9, visit the Bookstore to learn how to get one (or two, or three, or…).
