A Yearly Ritual

I first became a published writer, an author, back in the Fall of 2008. Below is a quick and dirty count of what I’ve had published since that crude beginning.

3 novellas

1 short story collection

1 novelette

11 short stories

2 anthologies (as editor)

2 audio books

1 short film (based on my short story)

2 imprints (ran as managing editor)

2 columns (hosted)

15 reviews (written Sept 08 – Dec 09)

24 interviews (as interviewee)

Coming in the next 12 months: 1 feature-length film (based on an unpublished novella), 2 audio books, 2 anthologies (as editor), 2 novellas and 1 novel.

Writing for only 4 years now, that’s not bad. At least I don’t think so.

Why do I mention all this, you ask? Because Today is my 35th birthday. That’s right, you can feel free to send me gifts if you’re so inclined. Not up to buying something? No? Instead, how about You get something on this special day. Would a Free Kindle download be sufficient? If so, click on one (or all) of the below titles and get some macabre goodness.

Bartender, Please (short story)

Two Men, A Rat, And A Lady (novelette)

Grave Intentions (novella)

What else does the future hold for my writing? I suppose only time will tell. Until then, I hope you enjoy the above titles, and as always, thank you for your continued support.

Synopsis

Billy Fletcher learned to farm the family’s tobacco fields–and beat slaves–by the hands of his father. Now, his father is dead, the slaves have long since been freed, and the once-lush fields are dying. Salvation by the name of Abraham knocks on the farmhouse door, bringing wild ideas. He can help Billy Save the plantation and return the fields to their former glory… by raising his father’s slaves from the dead.

Can the resurrected slaves breathe life back into the Fletcher farm? Having brought the slaves back from graves that his father sent them, can Billy be the kind master his father wasn’t? Is keeping the farm worth denying the men the freedom they earned with death?

Billy’s conscience holds the key to those mysteries, but not the biggest one: what does Abraham really want from the former slave owner’s son?

Relics & Remains

You might remember me posting a few years ago about editing an anthology entitled, Relics & Remains. After dozens of emails, talking with various publishers and basically never thinking this incredibly awesome anthology would dig itself out of its grave, I’m pleased to announce Relics & Remains has been picked up by E-Volve Books (Naked Snake Press). Below are the almost, long-forgotten details.

Synopsis

People have always been fascinated about the past. Some even going to great lengths to uncover what’s taken place long ago. But sometimes when people venture into locations that aren’t suitable for the living, bad things can happen.

That’s when these self-proclaimed explorers start to unearth strange looking, ancient artifacts and the cursed remains of the once-living.

They think they’re going to be rich and famous.

But, that might just be the furthest from the truth.

To them, taking that risk is what it’s all about…until things start to go wrong.

So, for those of you into ‘finding’ strange things, here’s some words of advice…

Proceed with caution when digging up someone else’s Relics & Remains.

Relics & Remains will be released around Halloween 2012 in Trade Paperback and eBook.

Dead Souls by Michael Laimo

On his 18th birthday, Johnny Petrie learns he was adopted when he inherits a farm in Maine, abandoned for the 18 years since his natural family died at the hands of his father, the local preacher. Eager for a new life, he leaves home to start over in his new dwelling. However, as he digs into his past, he soon uncovers the horrifying details of his father’s questionable teachings. In a frightening revelation, he also learns that his return has revived decades-old forces trapped in the home and sets in motion a heart-stopping finale to a ritual that already claimed the lives of his family.
