Writing Class in June Confirmed

I received confirmation from the University of Akron that the ‘So You Want to Be a Horror Writer? – How to Write Scary Stuff and Get it Published!’ – the class I will be teaching – will be offered as scheduled.  The class will run each Tuesday evening during June 8 – July 6 from 6 – 8 pm.

If you live in the Akron, Ohio area and received their course catalogs in the past, they are being mailed out for the summer semester the week of April 12th.  If you don’t live in the area but still wish to sign up and travel to the class, you can view the course description and enroll here (their website isn’t updated yet since the spring semester is still going on but should be in the next month).

Write What You Want To Write

I should have some news for you in the coming days but until then here’s an article written by Will Calif which was originally posted on horrorwriters dot net.  Calif begins the article talking about Stephen King and then goes into why ‘you’ should always write what you want to write.  It seemed to work out ok for King, right?  You can read the short article here.

Adding Fuel to the Fire

I mentioned back in my first column on Hellnotes that the following authors and publishers would be doing special guest appearances over the course of the next year or so.  Among these names were; Maurice Broaddus (will be featured in the April column), Tim Deal, Jason Sizemore, Scott Sandridge, Jack Ketchum, Michael Knost, among many others.

It’s now time to tell you who some of these ‘many others’ will be (in no particular order): Tim Lebbon, Mike Oliveri, Wrath James White and Jeff Strand.  You can find their respective websites under the Links section to your right.

Pretty good, eh?!  I think so.

Until next time…

Ty-ing Up the Genre – ‘Up-and-Comers’

The next installment of my monthly column, Ty-ing Up the Genre, on Hellnotes is now available for your reading pleasure.  This month I interviewed three ‘Up-and-Comers’ in the horror genre.  Click here to check it out.

A few items of interest…

An annoucement will be coming in the next few days that may be of interest to you regarding some promotional items that will be on sale for the film, Cake Batter.

as well as…

A new contest will finally start again in the next week or two.  Because of the length between contests, I’m making sure this one is a BIG one.  The value of the prize will be well over $200.00.  This item is horror related but not a book.

Check back soon for details on both things!

It’s long past due…

That I register a domain name and drop the ‘wordpress.com’.

From now on this website will have the address of…

www.tyschwamberger.com

It’s the dawn of exciting things to come in 2010.  This is only the beginning!

The next (next) project cometh…

Tonight I completed my novella that will be part of the previously mentioned T.D.T Project.  Now, I will be going back to the completed ‘monster’ novel to edit it and get it ready to submit.  After that, it’ll be time to either write a novella for another future project or start the next novel.  I’m not sure which at this point.  Thoughts?  What subject matter would you all like to see me write next?

Until next time…
