I mentioned in a few previous posts that I have been working on a collection of my short stories. As of a few days ago the writing/editing of these stories was completed. The tentative title for this book is For After Midnite and will contain 13 tales and totals a little over 67K words. The manuscript has been sent out for consideration to be published. I will, of course, update you as word comes in.

Hypericon 5
I was originally scheduled to be a guest author at Hypericon 5 in Nashville, TN – June 5th – 7th 2009. Though, because of cost restrictions, I was ‘bumped’ from the author guest list. Although, I have decided to still attend the convention – as a fan. This should be a fun event with some great authors to meet and talk to for the first time. Specifically, I’m excited to meet one of my favorite horror authors, Brian Keene, who will be the Author Guest of Honor at the event.
Even though I won’t have a table at the event, I will still be more than happy to stop and chat or sign Night School or a magazine that one of my short story’s appeared in. You’ll be able to spot me easy enough, as I will be wearing one of the Night School T-Shirts. There might even be some sort of giveaway if I see someone wearing the shirt – more to come on this closer to the event. Though, just to be certain you have the book and shirt in time, I suggest heading over to the Storefront now and picking them up.
Short Story Published
My short story, ‘The Ringmaster’ has been accepted to be the featured story in the October 2009 issue of Orion’s Child Magazine.
This is a sort of a coming home for me, as my first short story, ‘Gnomus’ was published on OC in August 2008.
Did You Know? That my short story ‘The 7th House’ contains the continuation of the same characters that were in ‘Gnomus’? Well now you do.
So click on ‘Gnomus’ above, read the story, then head on over to the Storefront to buy Sinister Tales Magazine 4.2, which ‘The 7th House’ appeared in.
So You Want To Be A Horror Writer?
In February 2000, Paula Guran wrote the very interesting and factual article, ‘So You Want To Be A Horror Writer’. If you didn’t already guess, it’s about writing in the horror genre. Even though it was written nine years ago (and some of the data is a bit outdated), I think there is still alot of useful information that could be of benefit if you’re interested in writing horror or in any other genre for that matter.

Free Bookmarks – Giveaway, Part II
I originally ran this giveaway back in December 08. Though, with the growing popularity of the book I thought it would be a cool idea to do it again. So here we go…
How would you like some FREE bookmarks of Night School? (pictured below)

All you have to do is email me (ty_schwamberger@yahoo.com) and let me know your name and address. I will then mail you 5 bookmarks. In the subject line of your email, please insert ‘Free Bookmarks.’
There is one catch…
When you receive them, you keep one of them but have to distribute the other 4 to help me promote Night School. This can be done by placing them in similar books you get from the library, slip them in a book at the bookstore, mail with your monthly bills, leave one with your tip while at a restaurant, etc.
Sound good? Yeah?! Start sending me those emails, today!
I was born in a small town…
Though I currently live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, I was originally from a very small town.
Name: Covington, Ohio. Where is it: A half-hour north of Dayton, Ohio. Population: 2,500.
That’s where I grew up.
Late last year, I posted a link that took you to a ‘profile’ of me under the ‘Covington Celebrity’ page on the Covington, Ohio website. Since that time it has been updated. So, if you want to learn a little bit about where I grew up and read some background on me feel free to visit the site by clicking here.
What’s going on…
I apologize on the frequency of my posts as of late. I’m currently working on a number of items; arranging book signings, writing short stories for my ‘short story collection’, discussing a ‘theme’ for a book with two other authors, a possible television appearance, reading books and writing reviews for Withersin Magazine and some other odds and ends.
– Book Signings – I should have some updated information from the publisher in the next week to update you all on. The book signing originally scheduled at Heidelberg College (Tiffin, Ohio) has been moved to October 24th.
– Short Story Collection – As you might remember from a back post, I was originally going to write a number of shorts to amount to 50K words. Although, the more I thought about it the more I thought it would be nice for the book to be a bit longer than 200 pages (25K words in a manuscript is about 100 pages in a type-setted book). So, I decided to write a few additional shorts to beef up the book’s length. Right now I am at about 60K words and have decided to write two more (one will actually be co-wrote with my sister, Sue) and in the end will total about 70K or a little more.
– Book Collaboration – Still hashing out some ideas with the two other authors. I plan to devote all my writing time to this, once I am done writing the shorts for the collection.
– Television Appearance – Can’t say much about this now. If everything works out, I’ll give you the details at that time.
– Book Reviews – Submitted another review to Withersin Mag a few days ago and should be published on their site soon – I’ll let you know once available. Currently reading House Infernal by Edward Lee.
